SID Speaker Spotlight: How to Feel OK Even When You’re Not with Rosie Lawson
1st Oct 2026
On Saturday 10 October, Rosie Lawson Coaching will lead a practical and energising wellbeing workshop at Scottish Information Day (SID), helping attendees discover how they can feel more grounded, capable and in control — even when life, their health or their thoughts feel anything but okay.
Ahead of SID, Rosie shared more about her approach to wellbeing and the practical tools she’ll be bringing to Glasgow.
From the fast lane to finding a different way to live
For around 25 years, Rosie worked in the corporate world as a high-performing sales executive, including in healthcare and medical sales. She was successful, regularly exceeding targets and performing under pressure.
But behind the achievements, she was living on adrenaline.
“I looked like I was coping, but inside I was constantly switched on,” says Rosie. “I had become very good at pushing through, but not necessarily very good at knowing when enough was enough.”
Around ten years ago, Rosie decided it was time to do things differently. She trained as a coach and yoga teacher and immersed herself in understanding the relationship between the mind, body, emotions and nervous system. Rather than simply learning how to manage stress, she began to understand why we react the way we do, and how we can interrupt those patterns.
Today, Rosie brings together her corporate experience, coaching, breathwork, movement and years of personal development to help people navigate change, overwhelm and uncertainty with greater confidence.
How to feel OK even when you’re not
Rosie’s approach isn’t about pretending everything is fine and it’s not about telling people to simply “think positive” or “calm down.”
Her signature talk, How to Feel OK Even When You’re Not, is about having practical tools available for the moments when life feels overwhelming.
The session combines energising qigong, breathing techniques, simple “mind hacks” and practical body-based tools that can be used in everyday life.
The aim is simple: to help people recognise what is happening in their mind and body, create a little more space around their reactions and discover that they have more choice than they might think.
“Sometimes we can’t change what’s happening around us,” says Rosie. “But we can learn how to change what happens inside us when it does.”
Tools for the difficult moments
Living with a life-changing health condition can bring uncertainty, frustration, fear and days when even the simplest things feel like hard work.
Rosie believes wellbeing isn’t about achieving some permanent state of calm or positivity. It’s about having resources you can reach for when you’re having a difficult day, waiting for results, facing a procedure, dealing with uncertainty or simply feeling overwhelmed.
Her workshops are designed to be practical, accessible and immediately useful. Participants aren’t expected to sit quietly and listen to a lecture about wellbeing. They will experience techniques for themselves and leave with tools they can use at home.
Alongside one-to-one coaching, Rosie delivers group wellbeing sessions, workshops and courses for individuals and organisations. Her work brings together the science and practical experience of managing stress with an approach that is warm, human and sometimes a little playful.
