A patient inspired by her own experience after stoma surgery has launched a short survey to find out whether others face similar challenges when managing their periods.

Ella Fullard started the survey after struggling to find underwear that could accommodate both her stoma and period protection. While women are often told their periods may change after stoma surgery, she found little practical guidance or products designed with both needs in mind.

“I honestly assumed there would be something out there designed for both, and I was surprised when I couldn’t find anything,” said Ella.

“I want to find out whether this is just my experience or something lots of people are dealing with quietly. Hearing from others will help me understand what people really need.”

How to take part

Anyone who has a stoma and still has periods can take part. The anonymous survey takes approximately three to five minutes to complete.
