Gutted
Gutted is supported by IA (the ileostomy and internal pouch support group).
What is Gutted?
Gutted is an unmissable journey of frank confession, colourful characters and too much brown sauce. Based on solo performer Liz Richardson’s real life experiences as a twenty-something living with ulcerative colitis. Liz shares her journey of living with chronic inflammatory bowel disease before choosing to have surgery and live with an ileostomy before settling with a pouch.
Gutted is told in a way not previously seen and provides the audience with a window into what life is like with a chronic illness before taking the taboo subject of living with a bag (ileostomy).
Originally playing to hospital venues in May 2016, Gutted received great reviews during its tour of hospitals in November 2016 and at Edinburgh Fringe in August 2017.
**** “a fearless performance”
Bouquets & Brickbats
“It may seem a contradiction to describe a solo performance as a dialogue but Gutted is precisely that: an invitation to talk… it is to be applauded for promoting this particular conversation in a life-affirming way”
